Psychological Stress in Children

Our children often experience feelings of stress, and because we sometimes do not understand the cause of their stress, we do not act toward them in a healthy and proper manner. Therefore, here are the most important causes of psychological stress in children:

  1. A child feeling physical pain or suffering from a specific illness, which leads to a severe change in their psychological state.
  2. Anxiety that affects the child due to school tasks, their academic achievement level, and their test scores.
  3. The child’s constant exposure to rejection and bullying by friends; bullying can also occur within the family, which exacerbates the condition because the child is exposed to more intense pressure.
  4. The child moving from one school to another, or from one home to another, can be a cause of psychological stress for them.
  5. Family disintegration and parental separation are among the factors that most cause anxiety and psychological stress in children.
  6. Misconceptions that children form about themselves and their inability to evaluate their self-worth correctly, which may be due to their young age.
  7. A lack of self-confidence in some children is a factor behind severely exhausting psychological stress.
  8. Certain physical changes that surprise both male and female children may cause them psychological stress and excessive nervous tension, as they are unaccustomed to such changes in their bodies.
